Lieutenant Justin Mayton began his fire service career in 2007 with the North Park Fire Department. Throughout his career, he has proudly served with the Loves Park Fire Department and the Memphis Fire Department before joining the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department's first class of full-time firefighters in August 2024.

Justin is a state-licensed Paramedic and holds certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

He has completed numerous advanced fire service courses through the Monroe Fire School and the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI), including Commercial Building Fires, First Arriving Officer, Ice Rescue Technician, and Active Shooter Incident Management.

Justin holds numerous Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal certifications, including Company Fire Officer, Advanced Technician Firefighter, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Watercraft Technician, Surface Water Operations, Rope Operations, Hazardous Materials Operations, Vehicle and Machinery Operations, and Fire Service Instructor I. He also earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire Science from Rock Valley College.

Outside of the fire service, Justin enjoys spending time with his three children—Lily, Rylen, and Leif—and his Golden Retriever, Shadow.
