Photos through the years
Fire Chief Oscar Presley started taking pictures in the 1980s because he said everything the department did was "history in the making", and he wanted it documented. Joanne Ramsey would help in the 80s with training burns and apparatus pictures. The department's first actual fire photographer, Sheryl Drost, started taking photos for the department in 1990 and was officially sworn in on the department on June 25, 1997. The photographer responds straight to the scene and is able to get many first-in fire pictures. Here are some of those first-in pictures as well as some early fires captured by the news media.
