Chief Harry Evans

Harry Evans had the distinction of serving as the first Fire Chief of the newly formed Harlem-Roscoe Fire Protection District. Under his leadership, the former Roscoe Fire Department transitioned into a modern fire protection district, laying the foundation for the organization that continues to serve the community today.

A lifelong public servant, Harry owned and operated a grocery store on Main Street, served as the local tax collector, and managed the township cemetery for many years. Well known and respected throughout the community, he was recognized for his dedication to public service both inside and outside of the fire department.

As Fire Chief, Harry guided the department through a period of significant growth and modernization. During his tenure, the District acquired its first modern firefighting equipment, including its first true fire engine, greatly enhancing the department's ability to protect the residents and businesses of Harlem-Roscoe.

Chief Evans' vision, leadership, and commitment to serving the community helped establish the strong foundation upon which the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Protection District continues to build today.
