1940-1944

Chief Harry Evans had the distinction of being the first Fire Chief of the newly formed Harlem-Roscoe Fire Protection District. Chief Evans ran a grocery store on Main Street, was a tax collector, and was in charge of the township cemetery for years.

Everyone knew him and he led the old Roscoe Fire Department into a fire protection district which brought in new equipment for the first time including the first real fire truck.
