Joe Koeninger

Lieutenant

Lt. Joe Koeninger was sworn in to the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department as a second-generation firefighter in December 2005, obtained my EMT-Basic in June 2007, and in addition to being a full-time firefighter, he currently assists the Maintenance Division in maintaining and repairing the apparatus. He is also in charge of Fire Fighting Equipment.

On my off time, I spend it with my children, daughter (Madilyn), 14, and son (Lincoln), 6. During the summer months, I work on the ambulance for Blackhawk Farms and am the Chief of Safety and Rescue for the Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs.

Current certifications are Fire Apparatus Engineer, Fire Fighter II, Advanced Technician Firefighter, Rope Operations, Hazmat Technician, Fire Service Vehicle Operator, Vehicle & Machinery Operations, and Instructor I. I was promoted to Lieutenant in December 2023.
