Lieutenant
Lt. Justin Harwood joined the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department in April of 2011 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on May 22, 2023.
Justin grew up in McHenry County and was raised in the fire service with his father being a firefighter for Crystal Lake and then Elgin Fire, and his older brother David is now a Battalion Chief for McHenry TFPD. Justin began his Firefighting endeavors briefly with North Park Fire and Northwest FPD where he served for two years then moved to Roscoe in 2010 where he joined HRFD and has proudly served as a Paid-on Call firefighter and was hired full-time as a contract firefighter / EMT. Justin is a State certified Company Fire Officer, Advanced Fire Technician, Rope Operations, Haz-Mat Operations, Instructor 1, Vehicle Machinery Ops, and EMT Basic since 2009 and is currently in charge of radio operations for the department.
In his free time, Justin enjoys time working out at the gym, listening to and playing music, and collecting vinyl records and comic books. He continues to grow his fire knowledge and experience through additional classes and training. Justin enjoys time with his children, son , Cameron (11) who is an avid basketball and soccer player and daughter Olivia (17) who is in her senior year and preparing for college.
