Ryan Donner

Lieutenant Ryan Donner joined the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department in September 2021. He was promoted to Lieutenant in January 2023, stepped down from the position in October 2023 to focus on completing his transition to becoming a paramedic, and was reappointed to the rank of Lieutenant in December 2024.

Ryan grew up in Dixon, Illinois, and graduated from Dixon High School. While still in high school, he joined the Dixon Rural Fire Department Cadet Program before becoming a paid-on-call firefighter in 2009. He earned his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license in July 2012 and became a Paramedic in October 2023.

Prior to joining the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department, Ryan worked as a full-time Emergency Dispatcher while also serving as a part-time firefighter with the South Beloit Fire Department. During his time at South Beloit, he was honored with the department's Excellence in Leadership Award in 2019.

At Harlem-Roscoe, Ryan serves as the department's Quartermaster, overseeing the maintenance and distribution of turnout gear, personal protective equipment (PPE), and uniforms. In the fall of 2024, he established the department's Awards and Decorations Program, recognizing members for outstanding service and dedication.

Ryan holds numerous certifications through the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), including Advanced Technician Firefighter, Hazardous Materials Operations, Rope Operations, Vehicle Machinery Operations, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Fire Officer I, and Instructor II. His EMS credentials include CPR, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), and National Registry Paramedic certification.

Ryan is assigned to Station 2 as the officer on Gold Shift. During the summer months, he also works part-time as a Paramedic at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, providing emergency medical care during racing events.
